What is the actual submission?
From my understanding, the actual submission is 500 word document based off of the template you provided via email and the 2 min pitch video.
How are any supporting documents treated? Can it be a more robust explanation of the problem, solution, etc with stats, quotes, research, etc? How does this differ from the section that asks to "tell the story" with the inspiration , challenges, how it works, etc?

Hello Marc
Correct - You need to submit (a) a document according to the template below and (b) a 2-minute pitch...
Judie's Q&A is on tomorrow at noon Irish time - That will help with the storyboarding and filming of the 2-minute pitch.
This is the template for the submission. Use supporting documents to expand on any section:
Global Design Challenge for Sport and Physical Activity
Team Entry Template
The name of your team:
Team Members: For each team member please give the following information: Name/Occupation/Email address/City/Country of Residence
The name of your project (add an acronym if you have one):
Categories: To assist us in the judging please say which of these categories best fits your project. If none of them fits please use the “other” category to give a brief description.
Education and Research
Sports Technology
Leadership and Innovation
Business and Innovation
Innovation and Manufacturing
Sports Development
Communications
Technology
Other
Description of Project [500 words]: Include here a brief description of your project. Please be aware of the list of ten Judging Criteria on the Devpost site for the Global Design Challenge. The overall questions you might cover include:
What challenge does your project address?
What is the goal of your idea and the expected impact?
Who will benefit most from this idea?
How/where/by whom might this idea be implemented?
What resources would be needed to evaluate and implement this idea?
[You may embed hyperlink(s) to file(s) with supporting material in the form of documents only]
Project: You are invited to video your project. This element is optional. Insert hyperlink to your two-minute video here.
Pitch: You are required to tell us in person about your project by videoing one or more team members. This element is mandatory. Insert hyperlink to your two-minute video here.
Terms of Participation: you must tick this box to make your submission valid.
We have read and agree to the Terms of Participation
Please note that there is a limit of 10MB to submissions on Devpost. Of course, we don’t expect the completion of this template to create a file of more than a few kilobytes!
Hope that this helps:)
Best wishes

Again, I am a bit confused.
1. What is the purpose of the "Tell the Whole story section"? and how does it differ from the submission template?
2. If I am submitting the completed template as a file, why am I putting the project description again into a form in the "Complete your submission" page?
3. There is a mandatory video demo spot on the "complete your submission" page as well as a mandatory "pitch video" spot to fill out. Are these the same video? I thought only the pitch was mandatory and the demo optional?
Thank you - I believe the website was designed for more computing related hackathons and it feels like it was modified for this challenge, perhaps not fully thought out?

Hi Marc
Can you please send a screenshot of what you are seeing when you try to submit? We don't have any section in our template for 'Tell the Whole Story'
In our submission section, we have (a) a section for details of whole project upload using template (as per my previous message) and can have hyperlinks to other supporting documents, etc.(b) a section which asks for more detail re categories, your mandatory pitch and your non-mandatory video of project.
Best wishes
Fiona

It is in the "Edit your Project" part of the website, that I must go through before I get to the submission part of the website. Not sure how to paste a screenshot into the discussion, not sure it allows me.
as for (b) there is also a section called:
Description of Project [500 words]: Include here a brief description of your project. Please be aware of the list of ten Judging Criteria on the Devpost site for the Global Design Challenge. The overall questions you might cover include:
What challenge does your project address? What is the goal of your idea and the expected impact? Who will benefit most from this idea? How/where/by whom might this idea be implemented? What resources would be needed to evaluate and implement this idea? [You may embed hyperlink(s) to file(s) with supporting material in the form of documents only]
Which is the same as in the template.
There is also a mandatory Video Demo and Pitch Video section. There is an option "Project: You are invited to video your project" section.

Hello Marc
All the submissions so far have followed this template as set out - they have avoided repetition and seem to be be clear.
So, just follow the submission template as best you can, please.
Wishing you the very best of luck

I have similar questions to Marc as I am seeing the same "Tell the whole story" section and "what is your pitch" questions. Is the "Get Started" button the path to the submission page? I am not finding language that matches the submission template

What happens if the video goes over 2 minutes? Video editing is not my strong point... :)
